EZRip Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Answered Questions

How long does it take to learn how to use EZRip effectively?

Once you understand the principles of how EZRip works, there really isn't any learning curve whatsoever. Most new users will be cutting drywall or plasterboard as quickly as experienced wallboard hangers who have many years of experience within the first 15 minutes.
How do I obtain spare parts?
Spare parts can be obtained by contacting the EZRip Drywall Tool Company. Ask for your customer service representative for your area. Please describe the part and specify the quantity.

Does EZRip require a special blade?

NO. However, EZRip blades are highly recommended since they have been designed specifically for use ONLY with EZRip. For best results, choose a blade that has a hole diameter between .281" -.285" and one that is made from heavy gauge .025", surgical carbon steel for rugged use.

Regarding stripping drywall and plasterboard, what is the minimum cut size?

The USA model EZRip can cut drywall as small 2.375 inches and the metric model EZRip can cut plasterboard as small as 60 mm. However, for best results with very small rips, score both sides of the wallboard to ensure a clean break.

Are there any differences between the USA model EZRip and the metric model EZRip?

Yes, the USA model EZRip can cut both horizontally and vertically while the metric model EZRip cuts just horizontally due to the smaller metric measuring increments.
EZRip is so small, how can it possibly cut 8 and 12 foot drywall panels?
You can use EZRip to remove up to 24 inches from the length of an 8 or 12 foot drywall panel. For example, if you wanted to cut the length of the drywall panel to 87 inches, you would choose the red scale and set EZRip to 87 inches. See our How EZRip Works page for more information on this.
“I've always find that a drywall T-square has always been a very useful tool for cutting the width of a drywall panel”. Could you please give me a good example of when it would be better to use EZRip instead?
A drywall T-square will always be an essential tool to include in your tool box. However, the drywall T-square is difficult to work with when the width of the drywall panel is smaller then 48 inches. For example, using EZRip for removing up to 24" of drywall from your long narrow "rips" can be a real time saver. This feature is not available with the metric model EZRip. See our How EZRip Works page for more information on this.
